How to Access Your Router Configuration
- Click
Start
- Click
Run
- In the
“Open” text box, type CMD and click OK
- (You
will see a black window pop up with white text) Key “ipconfig” (no quotes)
and press enter.
- (You
should see three sets of numbers, write down the number next to Default
Gateway. This is the ip address of the router, make note of it. You will
need this in a later step.)
- Open
Internet Explorer
- In the
address bar at the top of the IE window key in the ip address of the
Default Gateway (from step 5.).
- You
will be asked for a user name and password. All routers come with a default setting
for this. Unless your router user
name and password has been previously changed, it should be one of these
below: (if your router type is not in this list, you should consult the
manufacturer’s website.)

- Once
you are inside the router you can navigate to the wireless section.
(DLink, look under LAN)
- After
accessing Wireless options, look for Security. Click on this section and you should
find your wireless password.
